Do Citronella candles work to keep insects away?
Our Essence No.1 candles contain the essential oils of Citronella and Lemongrass plants among other natural oils and ingredients. Citronella and Lemongrass essential oils are, to a degree, said to be natural insect repellents. When burning citronella candles the aromas of the essential oils in the air and may have an effect on deterring some insects. To enhance this effect our Essence No.1, Citronella candles contain an additional ingredient called Citrepel®.
What is Citrepel®, and how does it work?
Citrepel® is a safe and effective insect repellent that is high in PMD, a natural compound found to be powerful at deterring various insects. Citrepel® is derived from essential oils its high levels of PMD work by blinding the insects sense of smell which makes it difficult for the insect to find its human targets. Can I use the citronella and lemongrass candles indoors?
Yes, Whilst the main reason people buy citronella candles to use outside, our Citronella and Lemongrass candles are created to give a pleasant atmosphere both indoors and outdoors. The fragrance is created to give a beautiful, summer scent where ever you chose to place your candle.
Do citronella candles smell nice?
Yes many people find citronella to be a pleasant and relaxing scent. Citronella has a distinct scent, it has a vibrant, lemony aroma with earthy undertones.
Our Essence No.1 candle has a more complex fragrance than a standard citronella candle,It is a bright and uplifting essential oil blend with refreshing, oriental aromas. The citronella, lemongrass and lime aromas give a vibrant citrus scent, whilst the eucalyptus adds to the freshness of the citrus fragrances. The base of orange blossom and honey give a sweet and delicate floral dimension to the candle.
